Leeds Beckett University has roots dating back to 1824 and we are one of the largest universities in the UK and one of the largest employers in our city. Our community is made up of people from a range of social and cultural backgrounds and we are proud that our friendliness, warm welcome and professionalism are consistently commented on by our colleagues and students as well as guests at events such as open days, graduation ceremonies and guest lectures. We achieved Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework and Bronze in Athena Swann.
Leeds Law School has been teaching law since 1924 and provides a full range of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses. We have a long track record of achievement and ensuring student success. In all our activities we ensure excellence in teaching and learning and student experience.
We are investing in our academic provision and wish to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Senior Lecturer, grade 8. Suitably qualified candidates may be eligible for a Reader title at grade 9 (please refer to the job description and employee specifications for both grades).
We expect all of our staff to contribute to our provision and help deliver a high-quality student experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach on both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and ideally should have experience of teaching at least one of the foundation subjects.
Candidates must be qualified to doctorate level, have a record of publication and be REF-able. The majority of our research currently clusters around 2 research groups: Applied Legal Education and Conflict, Security and International Human Rights; other research areas will, of course, be considered.
Occasional overseas travel may be required.
