We invite applications for the post of Administrative Assistant in the Department of Plant Sciences. This is a varied and interesting role providing general administrative support for accounts, stores and HR functions, helping to maintain efficient operations in those areas. The role-holder will also provide cover for stores, reception and the tearoom during staff absence.
The successful candidate will have experience working with purchasing systems and be a competent user of Microsoft Office. Training on specific University systems can be arranged. They will demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail in their work and possess strong communication skills.
The range of tasks includes accounts payable and accounts receivable administration, handling petty cash and assisting with month end and year end accounts preparation; providing cover at the Department stores counter, raising purchase orders on the University finance system, barcoding chemicals received and entering on a database; maintaining filing systems for accounting, HR and stores, collection of HR data and inputting into databases; reception and tearoom cover as required.
The post is available immediately. Interviews will be held on 17/18 December.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 4 years in the first instance.
