We are delighted to be advertising for two posts to develop the uCreate Studio, the University’s Makerspace, into a University wide making space focusing on digital making activities. This is a student-focussed space delivering new and emerging technologies to students and staff for learning and discovery.
As we transition to delivering a service across the University campus this will provide imaginative Makers with opportunities to deliver workshops and one to one sessions not just within the uCreate Studio at the Main Library but in venues across the campus through mobile workshops and pop up consultation sessions.
We are looking to recruit for an experienced Manager to build up an innovative making service across the university delivering fun, interesting and exciting making opportunities helping students to develop their digital making skills. The successful candidate will also get the chance to work with the wider library teams to look at ways in which the Collections and digital scholarship techniques can be used for making. This role will be supported by a part time Coordinator and a team of interns.
The Makerspace Co-ordinator will assist the Makerspace Manager within the uCreate Studio. You will deliver workshops, and promote the technical support to and overseeing student staff/interns. You will have demonstrable experience in materials and/or making to provide advice to students, fellow staff and researchers on assembly of complex tasks and the development of innovative projects. You should also have experience of advising others regarding design, materials, manufacture etc. in either a commercial, educational, or Makerspace environment.
This post is offered on a part-time (21 hours) fixed-term basis to 31 July 2021.
